If your property exterior is quite dirty and you have decided to have it professionally cleaned, you may find the following tips to be helpful.

Remove all decorative items from the area

In order to remove the dirt from your home's exterior walls, patio and driveway, the cleaners will probably need to use a pressure washer. If the cleaning company has told you that their employees will be using this equipment, you should remove all of the decorative items from the areas that where the pressure washer will be used, before the cleaners arrive.

Pressure washing, as the term itself suggests, involves directing a very powerful jet of water at dirty surfaces so that the grime on these surfaces is pushed off them. If you leave fragile items in the areas where this equipment will be used, there is a risk that the pressure of the water may damage them. For example, any terracotta plant pots or ceramic garden ornaments in your patio area could get knocked over by the stream of water, which could then result in these items shattering. Even if the cleaners make every effort to avoid pointing the nozzle of the equipment at these items, a gust of wind could affect the direction of the jet of water and push it towards these fragile objects.

Ultimately, any items that are laying on or next to the dirty ground or wall areas will simply get in the way and make it harder for the cleaners to thoroughly wash these surfaces.

Keep your pets inside whilst the cleaners are doing their work

If you have pets, you should keep them inside whilst the cleaners are doing their work. There are a few reasons why it is best not to let them outside during this process.

Firstly, their presence may make it harder for the cleaners to do their work. If you have a hyperactive dog, for example, they may knock over the cleaner's bucket of soapy water, jump on freshly-cleaned surfaces with their dirty paws or try to chew on the cleaning tools (such as the squeegee or scrubbing brush).

Secondly, the cleaners may need to use some strong chemicals to remove the stains on your walls, patio or driveway. If your cat or dog comes across an open bottle of cleaning fluid or if they spot a bucket filled with a mixture of water and cleaning chemicals, they may drink some of this liquid and become very sick as a result of this.
